The Royal Ascot meeting is just around the corner and racing in the Northern Hemisphere is starting to wind up and last-start Group Two winner Tasleet (GB) (Showcasing) is not the only potential Royal Ascot contender for his sire.

Royal Ascot 2016 saw the emergence of Showcasing’s first Group One winner, Quiet Reflection, who took out the Group One Commonwealth Cup en route to a third in the Group One July Cup – beaten just a head – and another Group One victory in the Haydock Sprint.

This year, Showcasing’s 2YO’s look set to play a major role in one of Europe’s feature racing carnivals and in the last ten days, three impressive winners have put themselves in the mix.

Whiltshire trainer Richard Hannon has a pair of Showcasing two-year-olds set to tackle black type at Royal Ascot. De Bruyne Horse (GB) (Showcasing) made light work of his opposition at just his second start when running out a seven-length winner over 6f at Ripon. The emphatic nature of his victory has connections eyeing a run in the Group Two Coventry Stakes.

The day after De Bruyne Horse’s impressive win, Hannon unveiled another Showcasing two-year-old with the filly Out of the Flames (GB) (Showcasing), who was a comfortable three-length winner over 5f at Windsor.

Owner Qatar Racing has confirmed via their website that Out of the Flames will be among their representatives at Royal Ascot next month with the Group Three Queen Mary Stakes on her agenda.

Nine Below Zero (GB) (Showcasing) made it 2YO winner number three in the space of six days for his sire with a one-and-a-half length victory over 5f on debut and will undoubtedly be a black-booker for the weeks ahead.

On the home front, Showcasing notched his 14th southern hemisphere stakes performer this past weekend with So Far Sokool finishing runner-up in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie. Having just her third start, the Peter and Dawn Williams-trained filly will now head to the Ballarat stable of Archie Alexander after a deal was brokered to secure the filly by OTI Racing.

So Far Sokool joins fellow Showcasing fillies La Mouline, Showmeyamoneyhoney, Presentatie and We Belong on the other side of Tasman after impressive early starts to their careers led to sales to Australian interests.

Saturday’s Listed Castletown Stakes will see debut-winner Dance for Money (NZ) (Showcasing) taking the step up to stakes company and with the services of Lisa Allpress aboard, the Gary Vile-trained filly looks a strong contender to enhance Showcasing’s black type honour roll even further.

Showcasing returns to Haunui Farm in 2017 where he will stand for a fee of $12,000 + GST and will once again serve a limited book of 125 mares. For more information, please feel free to give Mark or Shannon a call. Mark – 021 663 995, Shannon – 0212 855 513.
