Showcasing Colt Fetches $280,000 at Magic Millions

10 January 2018

Haunui Farm sent just one yearling to the Magic Millions Sale that is currently underway on the Gold Coast and what a masterstroke it proved to be with the close relation to Karaka Million winner Hardline (NZ) (Showcasing) and Wakefield Challenge Stakes winner Xpression (NZ) (Showcasing) walking out of the ring as Showcasing's highest priced yearling in the Southern Hemisphere.

Selling as Lot 80 on day one of the sale, the colt was prepared by the team at Kitchwin Hills on behalf of Haunui Farm and longtime client Bill Hurlstone. After a busy week of parading, the colt was in hot demand in the sale ring with bids coming from all directions before the hammer finally fell at A$280,000 to the bid of Michael Wallace on behalf of China Horse Club.

Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty says, "It's a fantastic result for Showcasing to get his highest priced yearling in the Southern Hemisphere at the Magic Millions Sale in front of all of the major players in our industry. Showcasing has had a fantastic season to date, he's the leading 2YO sire in New Zealand and earlier this week his son Be Bee was crowned Champion 2YO of Singapore. He's got two qualified for the Karaka Million and he should have a very strong sale coming up at Karaka in a few weeks time.

"A big thanks to the team at Kitchwin Hills for getting the colt to the sale in great order and also to Magic Millions who rang me directly to source a Showcasing yearling for the catalogue."
