Haunui celebrate Pukekohe double

Haunui Farm graduates Mascarinto (Per Incanto x Black Mascara) and Funny Girl (Showcasing x Triaction) were at their winning best on Saturday, both scoring at Pukekohe.

First off the mark was Mascarinto, who was last seen when finishing fourth in the Gr.3 Almanzor Trohpy at Pukekohe in January.

Partnered by Wiremu Pinn on Saturday, the three-year-old gelding jumped smartly and led throughout to win the Network Visuals 1200 by 1.8L.

Mascarinto was purchased by trainer Steven Cole out of Haunui Farm's 2021 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 draft for $120,000 and now has three wins and two placings to his credit from 10 starts.

In the following race Funny Girl won in similar fashion, jockey Warren Kennedy made the most of the inside gate and hit the front early to set the pace and finish strongy to win the Mount Shop 1200 by 1.3L.

Funny Girl, who races in the familar yellow and black check silks of Cambrige Stud's Brendan and Jo Lindasy, now has four wins and six placings to her credit and over $100,000 in stakes earnings.

Adding to the celebrations was Gaylebeck winning at Gosford. It was the second consecutive win for the three-year-old daughter of Ribchester.
