Three-year-old filly So Far Sokool (NZ) (Showcasing) was a dominant and impressive winner of the Listed Bendigo Guineas on Saturday becoming stakes winner number 24 for her sire Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream) and importantly, adding another black type performance to the board in our largest export market, Australia.
Stakes placed at two when in the stable of Peter and Dawn Williams, So Far Sokool was purchased by Terry Henderson's OTI Racing and transferred to the Ballarat stable of Archie Alexander. Second in the Listed MRC Twilight Glow Stakes in the spring, So Far Sokool demolished her opposition on Saturday with a four-length victory to land her first black type success.
New Zealand's leading 2YO Sire by winners, Showcasing has enjoyed another successful season so far with two Group winning two-year-olds Xpression and Bit Lippy, whilst She's A Thief finished runner-up in the G2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes, 3rd in the G3 ARC Eclipse Stakes and 4th in the Karaka Million. Last season's Champion 2YO of Singapore Be Bee (NZ) (Showcasing) has also continued his success taking out the first leg of Singapore's 3YO Challenge last week.
Whilst Showcasing has enjoyed a successful season, so too has barn mate Iffraaj (GB) (Zafonic) who is currently third on the General Sires table behind Savabeel and equal with second-placed Darci Brahma (NZ) (Danehill) on numbers of winners. Among the top echelon of sires in New Zealand, Iffraaj continues to prove his versatility and having sired Derby duo Gingernuts and Jon Snow last season, has Group One performed two-year-old filly Melt (NZ) among his leading lights this season.
