5 Winners for BELARDO

The Allan Sharrock-trained Yeaboi (NZ) (Belardo) became his sire’s 5th winner from his first Southern Hemisphere crop with an impressive last to first performance on debut at Whanganui yesterday.

A little slow out of the gates from the outside barrier, Yeaboi had to make his run from a long way out and overcame a 3kg weight difference to nab fellow debutant and also fellow Haunui graduate, Queen of Spades (NZ) (Iffraaj) on the line, with three-and-a-quarter lengths back to third.  Watch the race here

The winner of two trials in preparation for his first raceday appearance, Yeaboi is now being aimed toward the Ryder Stakes at Otaki on the 31st of July.

BELARDO (IRE) (Lope De Vega) is New Zealand’s leading 2YO and First Season sire by winners, with his tally of five including three winners on debut – Midnight Rocket who trainer Stephen Marsh has big plans for in the new season, Nobellem who trainer Nikki Hurdle is aiming for the Gold Trail stakes, and now Yeahboi.  Among BELARDO's first southern hemisphere crop are stakes winner AVONALLO, and multiple Group performer Fonsalette, as well as Tympanist who is a winner in Australia.

BELARDO returns to Haunui Farm in 2021 for his fifth season at a fee of $10,000 + GST.
