The lead up to the NZB Ready-to-Run Sale has certainly been different this year but, if there is something that we have all learned over the last 18 months, it is how to adapt to quickly changing situations.
As per the past two years, the Haunui Farm 2YO’s are being sold under the Lilywhites Lodge draft and Derek Nolan and his team have educated the horses to their usual high standard.
Haunui’s 7-strong draft of 2YO’s in the Lilywhites Lodge draft includes a ¾ brother to multiple G1 winner and now successful sire, TURN ME LOOSE (NZ) (Iffraaj) – Lot 96 – whilst Lot 215 is by Champion Sire SAVABEEL (NZ) (Zabeel) out of G2 performer Moochi Me (AUS) (Dubawi) making him a full-brother to talented G2-performing filly Slave to Love (NZ).
Lot 138 is a colt by CHOISIR (AUS) (Danehill Dancer) out of an ENCOSTA DE LAGO (IRE) (Fairy King) mare which represents a very successful cross. He is closely related to Eulogy Stakes winner LILIKOI (NZ) (Charm Spirit) and is a half-brother to Pure Imagination (NZ) (Darci Brahma) who was a $350,000 RTR Sale graduate last year and an impressive winner on debut for Te Akau in September.
Lot 17 (pictured) is a cracking type by DARCI BRAHMA (NZ) (Danehill). Out of an IFFRAAJ mare, his is a very similar cross to that of 14-time G1 winner MELODY BELLE (NZ) (Commands) who is also out of an IFFRAAJ mare by a son of DANEHILL. And speaking of the great mare herself, Lot 14 by TARZINO (NZ) (Tavistock) is a member of the great BELLE family himself, being out of G1 performer Tsarina Belle (NZ) (Stravinsky).
Haunui Farm stallion BELARDO (IRE) (Lope De Vega) has made a great start at stud and was crowned New Zealand’s Champion First Season and 2YO sire last season. He is represented in the draft by Lot 194. And rounding out the 7 is Lot 278, by ZACINTO. From the family of POLAR SUCCESS, his dam is four from four to the races and he is the 5th foal.
