Melody Belle - NZ's Number 1

History was made at Ellerslie on Saturday when Champion Mare MELODY BELLE (NZ) (Commands) showed her class once again, bouncing back to claim her 14^th G1 win in the Bonecrusher Stakes (2000m).

Bred by Marie Leicester, MELODY BELLE was born and raised at Haunui Farm and sold through our 2016 Premier Draft where she was purchased by David Ellis for $57,500.

Haunui Farm’s Managing Director, Mark Chitty says, “It was certainly a proud moment to witness MELODY BELLE make history on Saturday and I know it was a huge thrill for Marie. She’s provided so many highlights in her career and it’s testament to Jamie Richards and the Te Akau team with the wonderful job they have done with her.”

Now safely back at Haunui with her SNITZEL filly at foot and in foal to PIERRO, MELEKA BELLE holds a very special place in the hearts of all staff here at the farm.

Mark continues, “She is a blue hen mare, to think she has left a 14-time G1 winner and two-time Horse of the Year from her first foal is quite something. Marie still has a TAVISTOCK 3YO filly and a NOT A SINGLE DOUBT yearling filly that she has retained and with a SNITZEL filly at foot, there is certainly plenty of fire power to come.”
