It was a case of the ups and downs of thoroughbred breeding and racing this week.
Earlier this week Group One performer Rondinella produced a healthy Savabeel filly via c-section and despite a few worrying moments has come through the procedure okay and is now back home at Haunui with her foal.
Rondinella's ownership group, which is comprised of Haunui Bloodstock and Frantic Bloodstock, were counting our blessings when another stroke of good fortune came our way on Wednesday via Taupo winner Sudbina.
Trained by Kingsclere Stables, the 3yo Almanzor filly had impressed in her season debut when runner up at Matamata last month and this time showed plenty of heart when fighting to the line to win the McLeod Hiabs 1300.
Sudbina is out of Destined, and imported mare who was purchased on our behalf by Paul Moroney Bloodstock. Destined is also the dam of 3x G2 winner Fix and from the family we have an obvious soft spot for in Showcasing.
We're grateful to be able to celebrate the wins this week in the breeding barn and the racetrack!
